The Volvo XC40 has a standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that generates 221 lb-ft of torque. However, you can opt for one of the other two engines. When you pair the 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive, your output increases to 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.
The Toyota RAV4, on the other hand, only achieves 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft with its standard engine and maxes out at just 219 horsepower with the hybrid engine.
Drivetrain
While both models can be equipped with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, only the Volvo XC40 will allow you to pair the all-wheel drive model with an electric engine.
This engine will provide 402 horsepower and 486 lb-ft of torque. The extra torque and power in the Volvo XC40 can offer the performance that keeps you going strong and provides extra push to your vehicle.
DESIGN
When it comes to SUVs, you’ll want a vehicle with a well-designed, aesthetically pleasing cabin. The minimalist interior and the clean lines of the Volvo XC40, an entry-level luxury vehicle, certainly give it an edge in style over the Toyota RAV4.
Seating Features
Both vehicles offer leather upholstery, providing that luxurious feel you crave. However, the XC40 makes leather standard across all trim levels, while you’ll have to upgrade the Toyota to get leather seats.
A more extravagant Nubuck leather is also available in this Volvo SUV. The high-end material adds so much more luxury to every drive than the RAV4's standard cloth seats. How about interior driftwood inlays? This Scandinavian specialty is only available in the Volvo XC40!
Amenities
Once again, these two models are fairly similar. Both SUVs offer climate control and heated front seats. However, you’ll have to upgrade the Toyota to get either of these features, as they aren’t available on the base trim.
